Home Staging Courses

From LoveToKnow Interior Design

If you have the desire to become a professional home stager, then taking home staging courses can help catapult you to success. Now that the industry has grown significantly, there are many educational options available to fit all budgets and schedules.

What to Expect in a Home Staging Course

The various training programs offered for home stagers include everything from study at home options to multiple day classroom based classes. Home staging courses can cost anywhere from a few hundred dollars to a few thousand dollars, not including travel expenses for out of town courses. As an investment of your time and money, you should research all the options out there and also try to speak with graduates of the programs for feedback.

During the research phase of choosing home staging courses, there are a few items to keep in mind. Find out what type of support is available to graduates of the program. This might include help with advertising and marketing, networking with other professional stagers, or mentor assistance. Home staging is just one path to Interior Decorator Jobs that are in demand and can be quite lucrative with the right perseverance.

Most home stager programs provide graduates and participants with a certificate of completion along with the right to use their designation showing your training. For example, graduates of the international Staged Homes courses can all themselves Accredited Staging Professionals® (or ASP) in their marketing materials. ASP lessons can be taken in a traditional classroom setting or via the internet.

Options for Home Staging Courses

Many of the home staging workshops are classroom based programs where students converge in one location and work together with instructors. This option requires traveling to the course location and lodging for a few days if it is out of your local area. These interactive home stager classes commonly feature hands-on experience where actual homes are staged for practice and so students can see examples of home staging. The conventional classes typically meet for two days up to five days in some cases. A longer home staging course might provide additional hands-on training days, but will likely be more expensive.

There are also study at home alternatives for learning how to stage homes. This might include a study guide, DVD, or CD, along with assignments and projects to complete. In addition, several companies are offering online home stager workshops over the internet or by phone as live conference calls. This flexible option is perfect for those on a tight budget or for those with limited time for classes and training.
